CHAD began as a result of a traffic crash involving a 13-month-old boy named Chad. The babysitter who was driving was killed. Chad was injured, but no one at the scene knew his identity. Only because an emergency room nurse recognized him could his parents be located and his injuries be treated.
Stickers that list the child’s name, address, birth date, names and phone numbers of parents, and additional emergency contact name and phone number are adhered to car seats, bicycles, and bike helmets and can help identify children in the case of an emergency.
There are many ways to get your CHAD sticker. Visit Dickinson County Public Health weekdays between 8:00 am and 4:30 pm or call them at 712-339-6050.
